Johnson County State Relief Center

o Including replacing birth certificates, applying for federal aid, housing assistance, transportation assistance, and more.

*UPDATE: Residents please be aware of scams taking place - FEMA is warning of two scams currently taking place.
o The first involves people wearing FEMA shirts going door to door asking for donations. FEMA says it never ask for donations.
o The second scam involves people posing as FEMA agents, calling homeowners and asking for their bank account numbers in order to deposit money. FEMA says it will never call and ask for that information.
§ However, when victims call FEMA that's when a representative will ask for personal information.
*Residents affected by the flood - FEMA will need photos of the damaged items from your home and will need photos of the water damage caused to your home. Please document all damage and create an inventory in order to apply for assistance when FEMA arrives.
Applying for Federal Assistance
· President Bush has declared Johnson County a disaster area, enabling Johnson County residents who are victims of the flood to apply for federal assistance.
· When applying for aid, residents will need the following information:
o Social security number, current and pre-disaster address, telephone number, insurance information, total household income, and a description of your losses caused by the disaster
· Residents may apply for assistance using one of the following methods:
o Calling (800) 621-FEMA (3362) or hearing and speech impaired may call TTY (800) 462-7585.

· Johnson County Solid Waste Management is providing dumpsters for flood victim residents of Johnson County to use to dispose of any damaged items or storm debris. Dumpsters are currently placed at the following locations:
· Franklin: Johnson County Fairgrounds entrance off US 31 (debris and appliances)
· Franklin: Johnson County Park at Schoolhouse & Rodeo roads (debris and appliances)
· Greenwood: Fire Station 53, 850 S. Mullinix Road (debris only)

· Unemployment benefits - Individuals whose work place has been shut down due to flooding or if an individual cannot get to work because of washed out roads may be eligible for unemployment benefits
